Spring is finally here, the days are longer and lighter and spirits are up! This is the perfect time to start fresh and give your body the love and attention it deserves.

With the arrival of spring, our bodies are now ready to shake off the stagnation following the winter season. Nature is greening and providing us with the seasonal herbs and vegetables that are gently cleansing and detoxifying such as kale, nettle, dandelion and of course, spring greens!

In ancient Chinese Medicine, spring is the time of year in which liver function and detoxification are most active. Our in house Naturopath, Lara Abel has put together a free guide to doing a three-day spring cleanse. It covers everything from self-care rituals, dietary advice and emotional support. Here are Lara’s tips for a healthy and effective detox:

1) Stay hydrated
Hydration is key for detoxing, as it helps flush out toxins and keep your body functioning optimally. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day, and try adding some lemon or cucumber for a refreshing and detoxifying boost.

2) Embrace whole foods
Fruits, veggies, whole grains, and legumes are all fantastic options for a healthy detox. These foods are high in fibre, which promotes healthy digestion and elimination. Choose a variety of colourful produce to get a range of vitamins and minerals.

3) Ditch processed foods and sugar
Processed foods and sugar can wreak havoc on your body and impede the detoxification process. Try to focus on whole, natural foods that will nourish and support your body.

4) Practice mindful eating
Mindful eating is all about being present and intentional with your food choices. Take time to savour your meals, chew slowly, and avoid distractions. This will help you tune in to your body’s signals and make healthier choices.

5) Get moving
Exercise is a fantastic way to stimulate circulation and lymphatic flow, which can aid in detoxification. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day, whether it’s a brisk walk, yoga, or weight training.

6) Prioritise rest and relaxation
Sleep is critical for detoxification and overall health. Make sure you’re getting enough rest by aiming for seven to eight hours of sleep per night. You can also try incorporating relaxation practices like meditation or deep breathing into your daily routine.

7) Consider supplements and herbs
Certain supplements and herbs can support your body’s detoxification processes, such as milk thistle, dandelion root, and turmeric.
