On your first visit

It is important that the Doctors of Chiropractic at Northcote Chiropractic to complete a thorough consultation and examination to find the cause of your symptoms, as our aim is to fix the cause not just the symptom. The spine and nervous system are delicate systems and as everyone is built and lives differently, it is important to consider all factors of your health.

Our Chiropractors are highly trained on how to assess, manage and care for people of all ages.

Adult First Visit

The Chiropractic Consultation and Examination process
 will include:

A full health history (past and present), as well as orthopaedic, neurological and chiropractic testing, which is relative to your problem. We will also undertake a Muscle and Thermal Scan. This will give the Chiropractor vital information about the function of your spine, joints and nervous system.

The Muscle scan involves a Static Electromyography (sEMG)
This technology reads electrical activity in order to measure paraspinal tension, similar to the use of electromyography in ECG/heart rate measurement machines. The electric current pattern is a critical component in how your body functions. The muscles on either side of your spine should be balanced: if they are not working equally well, the body is forced to compensate, which takes energy.

Thermal Scan
The INSiGHT neuroTHERMAL™ Scanner is a rolling segmental thermal scanner that uses infrared sensors to take temperature readings. The neuroTHERMAL Scanner measures paraspinal temperature differential. A significant difference in the temperature on each side of the spine could indicate a lack of autonomic responsiveness, an important indicator that something could be wrong with one or more organs.

Diagnosis

Your Chiropractor will then explain your diagnosis, and how Chiropractic care can help. At this time some patients may have questions and our chiropractor is more than happy to explain any particular points in more detail.

X-rays

If clinically necessary the Chiropractor may refer you for an x-ray, If no x-rays or further testing are needed the Chiropractor will ask if you would like to start your first adjustment.

Your First Chiropractic Adjustment

After your chiropractor has established a diagnosis they will explain and perform an adjustment on your body with your consent, which will allow your body to start the healing process. The Chiropractor will give you your care plan based on your health history, scans and examination results. Your care plan will include how many visits it will take to make the correction and achieve balance in your spine, and what/when exercises should be done at home to complement your treatment.

“I came to see the team for some emergency treatment after a sports injury. Initial consultation was professional and quickly diagnosed the issue.

Having now successfully treated the injury I come for a sports massage 1 or 2 times a month to prevent further problems.

Brilliant, I strongly recommend if you have back problems or sports injuries.
